Berry oatmeal bars make healthy eating desserts for all occasions!


These bars are a perfect dessert for that Christmas buffet. They are really fruity combinations. But if you don't like Cranbeeries, then, there are assorted fruits to choose from. You can start with apricot, strawberries, blueberries, peaches, pineapples and apples to mention a few.

The preparation time is about 15 minutes while baking time is about 30 minutes and the total minutes are 45 minutes. It can be more or less depending on your patience and cooking creativity. The dish makes about 24 servings.


1.  2 C of dried cranberries

2.  1 egg, beaten slightly

3.  1 C butter, room temperature

4.  1 C of brown sugar, packed well

5.  2 C quick cooking oats

6.  1 1/2 C + 2 T of flour, divided

7.  1 (8oz.) container of sour cream

8.  3/4 C of white sugar

1 t vanilla extract  +1 T lemon peel, grated

Let's go! First we start by allowing the oven to preheat to 350 degrees.

Then place the butter and brown sugar into a mixed bowl and cream the mixture until lightly and fluffy.

Add in the oats and stir until mixed in well blended. Then stir in 1 1/2 C of flour until mixed in well and completely moistened.

Now remove 1 1/2 C of the mixture and set aside.

Press the remaining mixture into the bottom of an ungreased 132x9 pan.

Then bake for 10-15 minutes until the crust turns a light golden brown.

Follow up by placing the cranberries into a large bowel and add the sour cream, sugar, egg, lemon peel and vanilla to the cranberries.

Stir in the remaining flour and continue mixing until all the ingredient are fully blended.

Spread the mixture evenly over the baked crust and sprinkle the reserved crumb mixture evenly over the top.

Finally, bake an additional 20 minutes or until a golden brown on top. Now be sure to cool on a  wire  rack before cutting.
