Exotic fish chowder recipes is made of pleasant, mouthwatering, tasty and  delicious soup cum side dish featuring  mixed fish of chunky smoked haddock fillet, prawn and potatoes.

It is an ideal light meal for those who care about what they eat especially weight-watchers and some vegetarians that eat fishes.

The meal and cooking are not time consuming. In, fact, the preparation time is about 15 minutes while the cooking time is between 35-40 minutes. It is safe to predict that the entire meal will be ready for serving within 45 minutes. The calories are approximately 390g.

RECIPES/INGREDIENTS/PREPARATION FOR 4-6 SERVINGS:

1.   2lbs of haddock fillet

2.   225 g (6 oz) of cooked and peeled prawns

3.   450 g  of potatoes

4.   8 celery sticks + 1 onion sliced thin

5.   25 g (1 oz) desiccated coconut

6.   50 g (2 oz ) butter or margarine

7.   Parsley (chopped to garnish)

8. 1 small green bell pepper

9.   Salt and pepper to taste

10.   300 ml of milk (1/2 pint)

To cook this side dish Exotic fish chowder recipes is relatively easy as long as you have the ingredients ready and handy.

To start the cooking, first, skin the haddock fillet and cut into bite-sized pieces, and place the coconut in a measuring jug and make up to 300 ml (1/2 pint) with boiling water.

Then roughly chop the onions and celery. Then peel the potatoes and cut into small chunks, and chop green pepper, discarding the core and seeds.

Now, melt the butter in a large pan and add the onion and celery,  and cover and cook for about 5 minutes until starting to soften.

Now add  the potatoes and pepper and cook for 2-3 minutes.

Then strain the coconut liquid and add to the pan with a further 600 ml (1 pint) water. Bring to the boil, season, and cover and simmer for about for about 20 minutes or until the vegetables are soft and tender.

Now add the haddock and milk to the soup and bring to a boil, cover and simmer for 5-10 minutes, or until the fish is flaking apart. Finally,  mix in the prawns, warm gently and adjust the seasoning, and garnish with chopped herbs and sprinkle salt and pepper to taste and serve hot or warm.
