LEARN TO FIGHT OBESITY

THE BATTLE AGAINST OBESITY IS NOT ONLY A HARD BATTLE BUT A DANGEROUS ONE INDEED! BUT THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT WE MUST WIN THIS BATTLE AS LONG AS WE ARM OURSELVES WITH HEALTHY EATING FOODS AND CEASELESS PHYSICAL EXERCISES!

Obesity is now not only a scourge of the Western world but an epidemic that have touched all members of the human race including people in China, USA,Japan,Germany to mention a few.

It is equally a sad news that most people in this Britain especially women and children are now obese and many are getting fatter! The women I knew in 80's and 90's with flat buttocks and sizes 36 breast (bra), have now large breasts. Their breasts are so large that they find wearing bra very uncomfortable!

Twenty years ago men, women and children were all slim-fit including me. But today, I'm ashamed to admit that I'm overweight. I know the people to blame for this obesity epidemic and they are the so-called manufacturers of heavily processed food as well as those that advertise junk foods on the televisions. But when all is said and done, the worst culprits are the owners of Fast food industries! I have a strong opinion that if we close all the fast food outlets, we might stamp out obesity for good!

Fast food industries, Televisions with remote controls and computers are equally to be blamed! Can you imagine that some people spend a minimum of 12 hours on watching TV while some people spend similar hours surfing the Internate! Lack of physical exercises also helps to compound the bad issues.

The latest figures show that two-thirds of adults are now overweight and nearly one in four is obese!, 17% of the children aged between two-ten are obese,in Great Britain and experts predict that if current trends continue, things are about to get worse!

"A staggering 60% of men and 50% of women,25% of children in Great Britain are likely to be obese by 2050!" WHAT ARE THE CAUSES OF THIS EPIDEMIC?

"It is a a very complex problem and there are many reasons." says Dr David Haslam, the chair of the National Obesity forum. According to some experts, one explanation is that our evolution simply hasn't caught up with our environment.

"Eating has always been a way of staying alive, so telling people not to eat is like telling them not to breathe. It's instinctive" says Dr Haslam. Many years ago, you could not find people excessively overweight or obese.

Dr Haslam added: "For thousands of years,we lived in a world where food was scarce and we had to expend large amount of energy finding it. Now, there are no barriers. We now have cheap, plentiful food available around the clock!"

He went on,"At the same time,we are eating different food-40-50 years ago most of us ate unprocessed, home-cooked foods. Now our shops are crammed with calorie-laden-high fat,high-sugar,high-salt;processed food"

The arrival of sophisticated TVs and computers have definitely made things worse. These have contributed at least 30% of obesity in this country and in many other parts of the civilized world.

To combat obesity, we have not only to eat healthier foods but equally change our eating life styles too! Stamping out obesity needs active life, physical exercises, including regular breakfast, eating large portions of green vegetables such as broccoli, asparagus, cauliflower;and lots of fresh fruits and dried fruits!

Healthy eating does not mean going on diet to reduce weight! Nor is healthy eating starving yourself to death! Healthy eating means eating the right food, the right intake and food or diets that are simple, protein and fibre rich. Such diets are fresh fishes, vegetables, beans and bean's extracts like moi moi!

To prevent or stamp out obesity, you have to avoid snacks such as cakes, biscuits, creams on salads. Eat fresh salads without creams! Most importantly, drink plenty of water everyday and make sure you have regular exercise and regular breakfast. People who eat breakfast everyday tend to look smarter and slimmer and less likely to run for snacks at intervals! Finally cut down the hours you spend watching TVs and on computer. With all these at your disposal, you will definitely stamp out obesity!
