A SUPER TASTY DELICIOUS LIGHT MEAL:
To be frank this is one of my favourite light meal even though it takes time to make. It is the potatoes that make this bread tender, soft and moist.
As long as you put plenty of butter on this buffet dish, you will be surprise to see how fast the meal will disappear from the buffet table.
However, I must warn you that it takes a lot of time to be cooked. If you have the patience, creativity and dedication, you will find that it takes nearly 3 hours to cook.
The preparation time is roughly 20 minutes while the Rising time is about 1 hour 40 minutes, and baking time approximately 45 minutes.
Therefore total time to get this read on the buffet table is about 2 hours 45 minutes. The ingredients here can help you make at least 2-4 loaves.
RECIPES/INGREDIENTS/PREPARATION:
1. 3 C of all purpose flour
2. 2 C mashed potatoes with no butter or milk added
3. 8 bacon strips, cooked and crumbled
4. 2 (1/4 oz.) pkgs. active dry yeast
5. 1/2 C of warm water (115 degrees)
6. 1 (12 oz.) can evaporated milk
7. 1/4 C of butter, room temperature
8. 4 eggs + 3 T of sugar
9. 2 T of dried minced onions
10. 1 T caraway seeds
11. 1 t of garlic salt + 1 t of regular salt
You will find that once you have the ingredients ready and handy, the cooking is quite easy. All you have to do is to follow the recipes or the formula and before you count 20 names, you are there and cooking.
Here we go, to start with, place the yeast into a bowl with the warm water and stir until the yeast dissolves.
Then add milk, potatoes, bacon, butter, eggs and sugar and stir to blend.
Now, stir in the onion, caraway seeds, garlic salt and regular salt and blend well.
Add 3 C of the flour and beat until completely blended and a soft dough forms. Now, lightly flour a surface the turn the dough out onto the flour.
Knead the dough for at least 8-10 minutes or until it is smooth and elastic.
Grease a non metallic bowl and place the dough into the bowl turning to coat.
Cover and place in a warm dry place for 1 hour or until the dough has doubled.
Now, punch the dough down and turn out onto a lightly flour surface and divide the dough into two equal sized portions.
Follow up with greasing two round 2qt. casserole dishes and place the dough into the dishes.
Cover and let rise in a warm dry place for 45 minutes or until dobled in size. Finally, preset the oven to 350 degrees allowing the oven to preheat and bake for 45 minutes or until the top of thebread is golden brown. You can now cool on wire racks before slicing and eating.
