EVERYTHING IS GOING HIGH IN COST THESE DAYS ESPECIALLY THE FOODS WE BUY AND EAT..HOW CAN WE COPE ESPECIALLY IN FEEDING OURSELVES AND MEMBERS OF OUR FAMILIES?
This question is what many people and many parents are asking every day.The prices of foods are not coming down and the farmers and supermarkets are not making things cheaper for the common man, himself, and many families.
Even the qualities and quantities are no longer there. It is not only the groceries. Take for example, we use to buy "Imperial leather bar soaps" 4 or 6 in a wrap for one pound (£1) or (£1.50) but today, we pay £1 for 3 bars and the original perfume and quality have disappeared for good!
There is no getting around this. So we have to find ways to spend less especially on foods in other to feed ourselves and our families. I believe that if you follow my recommendations in this article, you will definitely save lots of money on shopping and happily feed yourself and your family members.
1..ALWAYS MAKE A SHOPPING LIST OF WHAT YOU INTEND TO BUY:
It is a wonderful thing to form the habit of making a list of what you intend to buy , be it groceries, clothes, in fact, every thing! When you make this list, you will definitely mind the items you intend to buy. From experience, you can also make a rough estimate of the prices and how far you can go in spending.
Once you have a rough estimate, you may never over spend by a big margin. Remember that it is always a good idea to check your food racks, fridges, freezer and cupboards to know exactly what you have and what need to be replenished.
2.. ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT IT IS ALWAYS CHEEPER TO BUY IN BULK:
You have to check the type of foods or groceries you buy very often from vegetables to cereals, meats, poultry; condiments, seasonings, herbs, ice cream etc. In fact, any produce you can buy in bulk, go for it or for them because you are bound to save a lot of money.
3..TO SAVE MONEY FROM YOUR GROCERIES, IT IS ALWAYS ADVISABLE NOT TO SHOP IN ONE SHOP RATHER "SHOP AROUND"
It is always advisable to shop around! If you shop around, you will very often save lots of money. I give you an example, some months ago I went to buy pumpkin at a supermarket and found they cost about £3-£3.50 each but a friend told me to go to the nearest local market and that she knew pumpkins costs less in those markets.
I went to the local market, could you believe it that they were being sold between £1.50 and £2 each! I bought three instead of one I intended to buy. It pays to shop around! Some foods or groceries can be cheaper in some supermarkets than in the other.
4..DON'T SHOP WHEN YOU ARE HUNGRY: You can believe me that it is not always advisable to shop when you are hungry. It is psychological that the pangs of hunger may force you not only to buy what you don't want, but to pay a lot more than you would ordinarily pay for that item.
5..ALWAYS LOOK OUT FOR FREE VOUCHERS, COUPONS IN NEWSPAPERS, SUPERMARKET BROCHURES , MAGAZINES , PROMOTION LEAFLETS, FROM COMPANIES LIKE TESCO, MORRISON, ASDA, SAISBURY ETC.:
You can literally hit jackpot or save lots of money by using promotional coupons and vouchers by these supermarkets near you. I heard my wifes lady friend narrate a story of how she saved a whopping sum of £23 from Tesco vouchers. Be on the look out for all these because you are bound to save a lot pounds, dollars Yen or Rubies by and from using them!
6..YOU CAN SAVE A LOT OF MONEY BY PREPARING YOUR OWN SANDWICHES OR FOOD FOR BREAKFAST AND LUNCH.
You will never know how cheap and easy it is to cook and prepare your own breakfast and lunch and take them along to work! The amount of money you will spend on a prepared food you purchase will definitely be more expensive than the one you made by yourself.
I throw this challenge to you..! If you compare and contrast, you will believe me. Buying any food from Fast food shops are expensive in comparison! Now, you have seen different ways you can save money on your shopping! Nigerian spicy chicken recipes!
