EATING HEALTHY PLANS
EATING HEALTHY PLANS ENABLES US TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT FOOD OR DIET WITH THE RIGHT NUTRIENTS AT ANY GIVEN TIME, DAY OR MONTH!
Planning gives an individual an edge over others who do not make plans. We need plans in almost everything we do in this world. A person who do not make plans before he does anything is like a ship pilot without a compass. He can crash on any rock or sail into a heavy storm that will cause a shipwreck!
We are what we eat and what we eat can sometimes influence what we do or how we react to certain events especially if we have no plans.
In these days when all the supermarkets, corner shops and food industries are deluged with processed foods which cause obesity and many other deadly diseases like cancer, every housewife and those who do the family shopping ought to make adequate plans to avoid those processed foods.
Eating healthy plans are ways and means through which we can avoid eating foods or diets that may not be conducive to our healths. Eating healthy plans must take account of the right healthy food with the right nutrients. Yes, eating plans that will focus on foods that will give us fitness, good health and most importantly, help us to live long and healthy!
In Nigeria for example and of course, many third world countries, there are severe shortages of food and in that respect, eating healthy plans may not be necessary. For them, food is food and must be eaten as long as one finds some.planning for healthy food is meant for the civilized people of the world who can afford all sorts of food at any given moment.
EATING HEALTHY PLANS MAY LOOK LIKE THIS: FOODS TO BE EATEN IN THE MORNING, IN THE AFTERNOON AND IN THE EVENING AND NIGHT OR CLASSIFIED INTO BREAKFAST, LUNCH, AND DINNER.
BREAKFAST: In Nigeria for example a healthy eating plan will be something like this: Instead of eating gari, akpu, pounded yam with soup or cooked yam in the morning, one can decide to eat bread with egg and coffee and tea. Failing that an individual can make a plan to eat Akara balls and drink orange juices which are light instead of eating heavy food like rice and akpu.
LUNCH: Eating plans at lunch may equally involve eating light food instead of heavy food. For example eating fresh fishes with moi moi and large portions of fruits and vegetable instead of eating meals rice cooked yams and rice which are carbohydrates and starchy foods.
Eating healthy plans generally are ways and plans to regulate what we eat to cut down intake of processed foods, plans to avoid excessive smoking, drinking alcohol, eating sugary foods such as biscuits, cream cakes, doughnuts which are known not only to cause obesity, cancer and other multiple diseases.
Healthy plans equally involves regular exercises of at least 30 minutes per day, as well as drinking at least 1 or 2 litres of water every day.
Eating healthy plans are not the same thing as going on diets which many people indulge without knowing that such dieting can be harmful to their health as year progresses.
Healthy plans are also as much as taking preventive measures to avoid eating the wrong diets or dishes.
On the other hand, planned habit of eating starchy foods such as bread, cereals, pasta, maize, potatoes are relatively important part of healthy diets and are good source of energy, and also the main source of a range of nutrients in our diets.
As one food expert once said, I quote; "Starchy foods are fuel for the body" A well planned eating must include balanced diets of starchy foods of at least 1/3 of every food we eat! This must equally include fishes, meat, eggs; and beans which are good sources of proteins which are essential for growth and repair of our bodies.
Eating healthy plans must involve eating vegetables such as Brussels sprouts, broccoli, spinach; fluted pumpkin leaves as well as large portions of fresh and dried fruits. Most fruits and vegetables are generally low in fat and calories but high in fibre. That means that they help to fill us up without piling on the pounds.
Fruits and vegetables also boost Vitamin and mineral intake, including folate for a healthy nervous system and Vitamin C for strong immunity and healthy skin and hair.
